    Director Guillermo del Toro will be juggling multiple projects, including “The Champions,” “Hellboy 2” and “399” throughout the next few months.

    Del Toro has just signed on with United Artists and C/W Productions to write, direct and produce the sci-fi action film, “The Champions.”

    “Tear up the planks! ...it is the beating of his hideous heart!” The Scott brothers will, indeed, “Tear up the planks!” on Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The Tell-Tale Heart,” for a modern-day movie rendition, which will star Josh Lucas (“Sweet Home Alabama” “Glory Road”).

    Tony and Ridley Scott as part of their company, Scott Free (“American Gangster,” “Alien”), plan to transform Poe’s unsettling narrative into a film with a $20 million budget.

  • Screamfest - Discovering the New Blood of Horror and Honoring the Masters 2007 Winners Anounced

    Screamfest, Hollywood’s Premier Film Festival dedicated to screening the work of up and coming filmmakers in the horror/sci-fi genre, has announced winners for its 7th annual year.

    “Alone,” a Thai Ghost Story, took the big prize as this year’s “Best Picture” and won in five other categories as well. “Storm Warning” and “Paranormal activity” also received multiple wins in more than one category.

    The crew at “After Dark Horrofest 2007” have replaced “Frontiers” with “Crazy Eights” and “Lake Dead” in this year’s list of highly anticipated horror films.

    “Crazy Eights,” and “Lake Dead,” will now be shown alongside, “The Deaths of Ian Stone,” “Mulberry Street,” “NIghtmare Man,” “Tooth and Nail,” “Unearthed,” and “Borderland,” in over 300 theaters across the nation November 9th-18th.

    Hope Davis (“Flatliners) and Alfred Molina (“Spider-Man 2,” “Species”) are set to star in Sony Pictures’ remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 psychological thriller, “The Lodger.”

    Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Lodger,” based on a Marie Belloc Lowndes novel by the same name, traced the trail of the notorious Whitechapel murders of Jack the Ripper.
